Use RSS to Bring Content To Your Website
Here is how you can get some free data feed content for your website and you
don't have to know any XML, Javascript etc. I found this really neat tool,
and I've been using it, so I thought I'd share it with you.
There are lots of places to find content, but here is one that has lots of different subjects:About.com Topic Index
Choose a topic you like and click thru, scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see an orange XML button, click on that.
It will take you to a new page where you can scroll down to where it says RSS Feed and you will see another orange XML button.
It will take you to a new page where you will see a URL of the data feed. Now right click and copy this URL to your notepad.
It will look something like this: http://z.about.com/6/g/astrology/b/index.xml
Save this URL, you're going to use it in a minute.
Now go to http://www.mediascooper.com/cgi-bin/mscoop-cgi/mediascooper.cgi
This is Media Scooper, it is going to take the XML address and convert it to a javascript
that you can use.
The second block with the white space says: or enter your own url
Paste the URL you saved earlier into this block.
You can specify the headline and change some background colors if you want.
Click the button that says: Get Feed
A new window will open and you will see some code in the top white box.
Right click select all and copy.........now go to notepad and paste this code
into your webpage. Wholla! FTP it up to your server and you've got a
fresh data feed on a subject related to your website. It will automatically
refresh articles by that subject, so your content will be new.
Media Scooper is for sale, but the test copy is there to use, so use it to your
hearts content, and you can always have fresh content for your website.
Hope you liked my tip today!
